500c would you buy one right now with N3 imminent

Just found this forum while looking for a dm500c or blackbox500c.

Is it still worth buying one of these, was looking at the blackbox 500c.

My intenstion is to watch the encrypted channels my FTA VM box can't give me.

After reading for 2 hours it looks like it may be a waste of money due to the upcoming change to N3 very shortly.

So, how imminent is it and would it be a waste of money buying one right now?

its up to you mate,you can pick them up for 60 quid and you could get 6 months from it, are you a gambleing man? then again you could buy it and the area where you live could switch to n3 staight away!!

as said its a gamble but having read posts from ireland it seems they only switched over the premium channels sport films and ~~~~ initially so you would still get all the other channels long after the switch. if the channels you are after are the ones listed above i would look for other means of getting tv but if they are the bottom end of scale for your requirement then go for it

The 500c will still make a great "Freeview" box. Much more functionality than any other box you could buy.

why not buy a box that can switch between cable and sat tuners then you have the option if and when it stops

for the money you pay for a 500 if you got 6 months is not the end of world

I don't mind 6 months, that will pay for itself, was just trying to get some opinions on when they are going to change over, if it were say next month then I'd give it a miss, if june/july then it's worth it.

Your entitled to receive Freeview so they should provide an aerial system.

Works quite well actually, and keeps you with-in the rules of the flats

I have a flat at the back of the house on the middle floor, not as easy as it sounds.

The aerial guy wanted ?300 as he has no access, only through the skylight of the flat above plus it's a listed building.

cable dreambox not worth the gamble for sure. They will be giving them away soon in UK.

Hmm ?300 thats far to steep,
As long as your window isnt north facing you should be able to get a dish in the window.
