    Modded Jade image

Hey guys, I have downloaded the jade image for the dreambox 500c and modded it to work in east central scotland - I have added a few extra things and changed the boot logo.......

Anyway as I am sure you know that the file system is read only and that the bild (logo) is in a hidden section of the read only file system, I am planning on releasing this modded image just as soon as I replace the boot logo again as at the moment I put the logo I was using for dbox's - however I have forgotten how I managed to mod it so if anyone has some decent boot logo's and instructions on writing to the read only file system your help would be appreciated - otherwise it's gonna need to be posted with a dbox logo - doh!

Or I can just post the image - and one of the devs here can replace it for me if they know how.

Nice post m8, That's me just finishing up this modded image now. Pretty much all I have left to do is change that logo and do a readme as i'm using two cams - evocamd (sometimes freezes) & scam (which generates it's keys from keylist.txt).

Once that's done I'll post it here - it won't contain keys but they can be downloaded & installed from the images software management ppanel.

I'll probably get this posted out tomorrow if I don't get hastled after work to do anything else.

Thanks for the helpfull advice m8. I have got vmware & ubuntu with a dm500 cvs already so it won't be much hastle to do.

Nice one m8! I did have this image on last week and I wasn't too impressed with it but I'll give yours a go when I get a chance.

Mr dude can i ftp in the keypack instead of using the ppanel, nice work by the way with the mod.I tried to use the origonal jade image but it kept defaulting to its original cam and i couldnt access evo2.12 which i had already ftp'd in.
I'm a pli virgin so im not up to scratch on them yet but at a glance theyre nothing much but ill give your one a go or else i'll go back to DK image.

If you go into software management and than remove software you can remove the default cams and config cams. You probably need to reboot the dreambox and than download the Evocamd 2.12 from their download server otherwise it does not always show up properly.I have always used Evocamd 2.13 and than ftp'ed devilfish's special files var/keys and var/scce directories on the dreambox.

Put this image onto my DM500S box just out of curiousty and couldn't see any difference between this image and the regular Pli image apart from the logo. I assume that because I put it on the sat box it ignores all the mods for the cable.

OK here's a short list of differences:

Removed jade plugins - and put my own different ones in.
Removed jade skins - and put my own ones in.
Changed download ppanel - and added a few extra features such as image backup, key & roms downloads etc.
Image now comes with evocamd and scam pre installed and changeable via a flexmenu - standard jade doesn't
Abitily to change the boot logo - (found in var dir) instead of using the forced non changeable jade logo.
Ability to run a startup script -(found in the var dir)

There are a few other differences such as a modded cables.xml file and a few others I can't remember of the top of my head.

hello mrdude, good to see you posting and modding again.

When I loaded the modded image on my Dm500S the CCcam 2.0.9 and CCcam config was preloaded same as the orginal.

The ppanel remained the same as original and there was no backup plugin which is what I was after as that was a real godsend in your Noob image.

The logo and the skin changed for me but the rest remained the same but I can only assume that this maybe due to your modded image being a cable image.

Evocamd replaces CCcam as the default cam, if you press the blue button the flexmenu comes up and lets you select it - even though it runs by default as I changed a file in the non writable part of the image.

The backup isn't a plugin - when you press the yellow button to bring up the ppanel - it should show up in that menu. As the software.xml file is changed it shouldn't matter if you're running a sat or cable box as it should remain the same.
