DM500 Philips NTP tuner doesn't work

    Hi all,
I am new here and hope to get some help with my DM 500C.

My DM 500C got killed recently by the "Time Bomb" which I did find very funny
However, got a m8 which helped my to JTAG the box and I succeded to get it back to live, with the DOS utility (the windows tool crash all the time). Have managed to flash the image as well and it all looks good (DreamUp). I expierence a problem with the tuner, there is no signal showing and in the menu I can not select "search channels" it does not appear.
I have JTAG a couple of times with the DOS tool and always selected the philips tuner, without any luck.

Anyone has an idea, hint or can guide me in the right direction on how I can fix this issue

    Many thanks in advance

Sounds like you have JTAG'd it with a satellite bootloader.

Go to MENU > INFORMATION and see if it says it's a 500-C or a 500-S?

If the 'service searching' option is missing, it means the box doesn't have the correct tuner driver and it can't communicate with the tuner (like a PCI card in a PC).

      Philips NTP tuner doesn't work

      Hi Devilfish,

thanks for the fast reply, it says DM500-S, so I have uploaded the wrong tuner driver (I suspected it, but was not sure)

How due I get the correct one to solve my problem, can not find while using google.

      Any help, please.

I'm not sure m8, never needed to JTAG one before.

Maybe check the How To JTAG A DM500 thread.

                Hi Micromouse,

thank you also for the quick reply. After pushing the "Thanks" my Internet was gone :-(

Some minutes ago I managed to install the DM500-C tuner on my box and loaded the old working image, all looks good so far. The dos utility is far more better and reliable then the Windows_JTAG. With the DOS one It took me 3 attemps and then I was connected, but the Windows one... (no comment), finaly I managed it with my old 300MHZ workstation running W2K on it to connect and upload it to my DM500C.
In regards to "i not sure what you meant crash when ever u use", the windows tool crashed (I suspect) because I didn't had any blimg file in the same location, I was waiting for a window to open and give me the choice to choose a location where the file is located, instead the tool prefered to crash, great isn't it.
One more thing, should you receive any reply from the creator of the DOS tool let me know, please (if you don't mind, that would be very kind)

I am very happy about the help offered in this forum, keep it up.

                Have a nice evening

                    Hi,

I have the same problem with my dm500c (philips), but my box will not start (no green lamp) after I have flashed with the generated bootloader.
I'm using DreamFlash v0.1 (is it the latest, it says dm7000s flasher!?).

I have also tried the dos flasher, "just for test". The dos flasher "works" but of course the box will think it's*an satellite or terrestrial box

Do anyone have any suggestion what I can do/test?

                    thanks
                    /perda

                    p.s. i have read the howto jtag dm500. d.s.

                      Hi

I am also in the same situation. Having read through i am still confused. I have a dm500c. I have Dreamflash Bootloader and 2 supplied files with it (alps and philips -boot).

I suspect these are for the sat version though. How do i get the correect file. Do i use the mac address creator file above with the mac address of my box (written on the outside) ?

                      Any help much appreciated.

                      Cheers

                        Hi
Have a good read through this thread, all your needed info is in there towards the end, just need to spend time looking through it. Don't use dreamflash just try one of the two jtag files and the cable bootloader in that thread.

                          Hi

You can use the mac address creator one and select cable with it. Or there is one posted somewhere in the thread which can be used, about half way through i think.

The 2 files you have are for dm500s mate.
