    Are you talking about loading the firmware on a DM500 if so than you need a null modem cable and Dreamup software.

        I suppose you could change the images with a Hex editor, but it's a lot easier to extract and modify them with a linux machine. Have a look at the stickies in the dreambox sections on this site, and maybe the dereambox developer section.

          No the image with fail if it's edited with a hex editor - I know because I tried it a long time ago;-), You need to load the image onto your box - then use some linux commands to save it in a tar.gz format - then edit it and recompile on a linux machine or vmware virtual linux machine.
          Then load it back onto your box - and test it.

            or just check out a cvs and add whatever you want :S ?

                With hex work shop is hard way to change something in image but before change you need to find cheksum of image because if you not fix cheksum after changing something upload image will fail.
