    sky sports 1 freezing ?

Hi folks, just changed the image on my 500c (original box, not clone) to the new digital kaos image from the dw2.1. I was happy enough with the DW image but sky sports one was unwatchable as it kept freezing every 10 seconds and coming up service not found? During the summer it?s not bothered me that much but now the footy has started again it turned into a bit of a pain. I ended up having to swap my dbox from my bedroom over with the dream box.
I flashed my dream box with the new digital kaos image hopping that it would fix the problem, but nope, still the same but I must add that I really like the look and layout of the digital kaos image. What I was wondering is could it be the cam? I?m using evo 2.13 I think? It?s the one in the dream box stuff rar file, same as the one on the dw2.1 image as well if I?m not mistaken? Which would not be hard ?
I know that it?s not a signal issue as I pulled out the splitter and plugged the box into the feed straight from VM but still the same (seen this advice in another thread also my dbox works fine on sky sports 1) I know of someone else who has a clone 500c near me who has the same problem with sky sports 1(my mates next door neighbour) I don?t know the lad so I don?t want to go over and ask what image, cams ext, he is using but it does seem strange that we both have the same problem? (I really want to be a nosey sod and see what he is using though? Lol)

mate same area as you and had exactly the same problem. buy an attenuator 6 plug it into your cable and it will sort your problem. i am using a 6db and it sorts the problem. i was having difficulty with ss1 and ss3 - try ss3 to see if that suffers from the same problem.

I thought the 500c had a weak tuner, wouldnt using an attenuator reduce the signal, cant see how that would help the 500c? I would have thought the 500c would need a good quality booster instead. Ive heard of loads of people having to use boosters on their 500c

Bub the obvious thing to try was a booster - which i did but it did not make a jot of difference. still experienced constant freezing. tried an attenuator as a very strong signal can affect a box just as much as a weak signal and hey presto sorted. been running perfectly for weeks. take the attenuator out and the box freezes again in under a minute. only happens on ss1 and 3 to the best of my knowledge. very common problem on d500c in this area.

so it looks like the 500c will need either a booster or attenuator most of the time, due to the fact that have poor tuners

since my first post i have not had a problem with the sky sports 1 it seems that it only happens when its something "LIVE" ? so I'm going to wait and try again this weekend. i had got a "yellow brick" booster for my old man a good bit back and i have also found the attenuators i had lying about so will see if i can get its sorted ? at the weekend hope if it is a signal issue then its sorted with the attenuators and not the booster that way i will not have to buy one I'm sure it cost me about ?30 a couple of years ago to buy it.

Yes and no,you may also have a weak/strong signal.
Checkout the RED stickies massive amount of info and effort been put into them.

I recently purchased an original 600c pvr which worked fine until i needed to split the cable signal 4 ways, anyway I plugged the Dreambox feed straight into a booster and evrything worked fine apart from Sports 1 & 2 (both would pixelate and freeze) so it seems to me the booster maybe was giving too much output and unfortuneately there is no gain control on it. Since I didnt have an attenuator to use alongside the booster I needed to bring the signal down a few dbs. The simple cure for me was to plug the boosted signal straight into a long female to male RF connector and use that to go into the Dreambox, now every channels is perfect.

Is there any way of testing the cable feed? ie multimeter to see if you have a strong or weak signal
