as Dan says Ireland has changed to NAG3 so it is impossible for now and the forseeable future to use a cable based dreambox in ireland.

get yourself a sat tuner and replace it

After extensively researching dreamboxes, I can tell you this, you can't swap the tuner, the mainboard needs to be different as well. Best best is to get a dreambox satellite receiver.

Components differ greatly between sat/cable 500's at tuner side of main board on clones. Have to have excellent soldering skills/equipment to remove tuner without damaging pads on pcb as well.
As 'Cactikid' says, alot easier to purchase a sat version!
