    Stream to Dreambox problem

    Using the DK 1.1 image, which is superb by the way.

    I downloaded the VLCf plugin from the download page, which turned out not to be VLCf - but VideoLanClient vlc0.2.3.tar.bz2.

    Anyhow, I followed the installation instructions from dreambox.it (vlc client faq).

    When trying to stream a video file from the PC to the Dreambox, I get picture for about 5 secs, then it goes all black and the TV picture signal is lost alltogether (sound is ok though) and a reboot is required to get the box up again.

    Any ideas?

      Right, problem solved. Hopefully this explanation will help someone else as well.

      The problem is apparently caused by any video with fps not being 25.
      Someone called cdc555 posted a fix for vlc 0.8.5 a in 2005/06.

      This assumes that the VLC client addon is installed on the dreambox.

      Google and download a patch called 'vlc_085_dbox_patch.zip'.
      Delete the http directory under "C:\Program Files\videoLAN\VLC".
      Extract 'vlc_085_dbox_patch.zip' to the C:\Program Files\videoLAN\VLC directory. Click YES to overwrite any file.

      Right click on the VLC icon on the desktop. Select 'Properties' and 'Shortcut'. Change 'Target' to: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --extraintf=http --sout-transcode-fps 25
      Press 'OK'.

      Double-click the VLC icon.
      Start the dreambox VLC addon. Click the video file you want to see.

              Hi,

              I have installed VLC on my 500c however, when I run it by pressing the yellow button I get after a couple of minutes a blank screen with File , DVD etc options in coloured text at the bottom, no files show up to be selected. I am running VLC .8.1 on the PC. I have tried adding VLCF however I am getting an error with the .so file because I apparently do not have an LED?? I am using digital Worldz 2.1 image can anyone help pls I am trying to watch TV series stored on my PC on the Dreambox . Cheers

                  Hi. Iam attempting to stream from DM500C to PC. I can't find VLCF plug fo dreambox anywhere in the downloads. The only reference to VLC is an older version of the player and a patch file. Pressing the blue button and accessing the DK server (box is connected to the internet) does not show the VLCF plugin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
