    this one beat's me !!

im trying to flash a DM500C , i can flash with dreamup either using a backup image or the latest but there's some wierd shit going on !!.
i can FTP to the box so i sent over bouqs and service file + rom7-10-11 .i then reboot the box but the bouqs dont show.
but the wierdest thing is , the section for "SERVICE SEARCHING" aint there !!!.
ive done all i know and erased the flash , , factory settings the lot but still the same.
also , if i send over the bouqs and shit then reboot and go back in via FTP there all showing but not on the box tv itself just has the favorite folder on its own.
totally baffled me this one anyone got any idea's ?.
it doesnt seem to be erasing no matter what i do + loads missing in kaos settings (blue button).

look for option somewhere in settings " reload channels " click on that, re boot , see if that helps.

when you do a scan, do a Bruteforce one

sounds to me you could have a problem with the tuner maybe hardware or drivers problem!

If it doesn't show the 'service searching' option it can't communicate with the tuner. It's like a PCI card in your PC, you have the hardware and then the software drivers so that Windoze can see and use the device; it's the same with the dreambox. The image you're using might not contain the approproate driver for the tuner...or the tuner it dead.

It's a wierd one right enough. What image are you using? Have you tried a different image?

The Dw v2 image has a tuner selection option so you might want to try that image.

              Hi
I had this problem today, doubtfull if anyone has loaded a new bootloader file into it?. If not it is very likely your bootloader is corrupt.
I will explain, on my dm500c clone I had a bad flash and had to read up about jtag to put it right. There are two types of software AFAIK to do this one is Dos based and the other is Windows based. Unknown to me the Dos based version only has the built in bootloader for Alps and philips tuners (for Satellite) so not realising this but noticing my philips tuner I flashed the philips tuner version onto my dm, all went fine so I loaded an image with dreamup but I couldn't find an option anywhere to scan (Service search)for either Sat or C .
After doing a bit more forum searching I realised that in the Windows based Jtag software there was an options to change a 'blimg' file (two of which were available) one Sat and one for C, the one needed should then be placed in the loader directory. I did this, flashed the bootloader with the C 'blimp' file and all is now back to normal. Long story but had the same symtoms as you.

ive got jtagwin5xxx but i cant see no option to change the blimg file .my dreambox has got a "NXP" tuner in it.
do you have the software and 500c blimg file handy ?.

do you have the software and 500c blimg file handy ?.
                  Hi
There is no option in the software to change the 'blimg' image you just have to drop the correct one into the correct folder which over writes the original one.
Attached is the 500c 'blimg' file.
BTW the dm500c 'blimg' file does both philips and nxp 'c' tuners.

                    Fascinating stuff.

My 2c ..If it were my box I would open it up and check that the tuner is properly seated. If a push didnt resolve issue I would erase the flash - load a blank image, then load my usual image before the more esoteric stuff.

BTW Cyro's Neutrino also has 2 drivers for the tuner but both will give you a scan option.

Hi, I have the same problem with missing "search service" function. Try now above mentioned blimg file.

This blimg file in fact solved my missing "search service" function.

After programming this mentioned bootloader file "blimg" to DM500C by JTAG, and loading one of the latest Gemini images with Dreamup, the DM500C is up again ... Thanks to you providing the blimg!

Begun with a "clone detected" and destroyed DM500C, this story finally is closed after a lot of (at least interesting) problems ...

                          db500c jtag

I have a dead db500c clone which I jtag but I think the blimg file is for the 500s so I will try with the 500c file posted here, thanks for the info.

                            Hi
If yours is a clone I don't know why the hell you would risk putting a Gemini image back on it again after having to take a Jtag cure, (ie keep your Jtag lead handy you may need it again)
There are better images around, but read up about changing DM500 Mac addresses if you really must have Gemini on it, that is unless the 'blimg' file has a suitable address in it to stop the Gemini message.

The DM500C is still up. Gemini removed clone detection in version 4.3.1. Also I believe the DM500C is not a clone. The hologram as well as other components used look as the original one.

What other better images are you using?
