    pls can someone help

    ive got a friends dm500c that had a bad flash (probably clone) tried to connect with null modem cable to dreamup, dreamup finds the box says Dreambox 500c but after that theres never any progress, so i assumed there was a problem and i need to jtag it, jtag was successful or it will flash the device 100%, i tried dreamup again with the same problem shows box but just stops. i then logged into hyperterminal and watched the boot process and this is what i get
    ----------------------------------
    Unable to read configuration data

    --- Device Configuration ---
    Power-On Test Devices:
    000 Enabled System Memory [RAM]
    ----------------------------
    Boot Sources:
    001 Enabled Application in Flash [FLASH]
    002 Enabled Ethernet [ENET]
    local=0.0.0.0 remote=255.255.255.255 hwaddr=000934125485
    003 Disabled Serial Port 1 [S1]
    Baud = 9600
    ----------------------------
    Automatic Boot: Enabled
    ----------------------------
    1 - Toggle Power-On Tests
    2 - Change a Boot Device
    3 - Change IP Addresses
    4 - Ping test
    5 - Change Baud Rate for S1 Boot
    D - Display Configuration
    0 - Exit Menu and Boot Application
    ------------------------------------
    Is this good or bad ??? also i cant send any commands to the dreambox from hyperterminal(not sure if im suppose to be able to) i can type but enter appears to do nothing(faulty null cable??)

    Can anyone give me some tips on what i can do from here

    also thanks to everyone on here for posting so i have got as far as i have

    if dreamup is finding 500c, then should be ok.

    download a different version of dreamup, try 1 or 2 different ones.

    make sure box is switched off.

    open dreamup.

    switch on box.

    click on flash.

    and choose dont flash erase.

    sometimes people have problems with certain versions of Dreamup.

      ive tried about 4 or 5 versions of dream up
      on the more latest versions it just shows as box type DM500 and then nothing
      on the older versions it says got start sequence, starting upload but then nothing

      on all versions the flash button always stays greyed out,
      ive also tried shortening the cable but still get the same results

        Are you using a proper null modem cable an d not the one witha usb at one end as people have had problems with that cable.

          no its not usb goes into com port on back of my pc i checked the wireing and its appears to be a null modem cable i might buy another one just in case, ive tried pretty much everything , one thing i will say is on the log above from the point where it says Dreambox 500c it takes a good minute to 2 minutes to print the rest of the info , maybe that long wait period cud be the cause of my issues, does anyone know if its normal to take a cople minutes to see all the information

          <--bigzuk added 42 Minutes and 54 Seconds later...-->

          ok i think i know what the problem is but still dont know how to fix

          i can read from the dreambox but i cant send to the dreambox , its not the cable as i took the cable out and done a loopback test and hyperterminal will then let me type but when i plug bk in the box am bk at the begginging
          but im still trying

            I have the same problem..
            There doesnt seem to be a valid jtag image available for dm500c boxes with NXP tuner.
