    Converting Videos for dm500c stream

    Whats the best res to convert videos into mpeg2 to playback to my dreambox?

    i have a program called all video convertor but cant get any sound to play and the res is crap.

    Any ideas of a suitable program for converting for dreambox playback?

    any help appreciated.

    <--cgscott added 87 Minutes and 20 Seconds later...-->

    Cracked it guys find the best res is w640 h360 at 25fps.

    Anything over that and its too glitchy.

    Using Myvideo convertor to convert the files. Nice wee program.

    I shall upload.

      Just thought id give a little follow up guys. I have managed to convert the videos from whatever to mpeg 2 to w720 h540 at 25fps

      seems to be streaming like a dream with the dk1.1 image.

      I am still using this program to convert and it can convert a 700mb file in 40 mins.

      Which i find great compared to other convertors.

        Hey Guys,

        I know the DM500 and DM600 aren't HD capable but I would have thought they'd easily handle the new SDTV [used to be DVD] standard. Which is 720?576 or 576i/p for PAL and 720?480 480i/p for NTSC.
        See attached image for res specs.

        If you convert your video files to 720?576x25 for widescreen and 640x480x25 for standard, they will have the correct aspect ratio for all PAL devices, so they should always look right.

          What bit rate do you use for the video and audio?

          What sort of file size should i expect if converting a 700Mb avi?
