DM500 Network connection on 500C not working

    Hi all,

Have finally got my 500C working with Kaos v1.1 image with all relevant keys and Picons. I'm now facing the following problem:

I'm using DreamBoxedit 2.02 to download default Bouquets to local PC to edit and upload back. Did the downloading from Dreambox successfully a few hours ago and started to edit them.

I then came to uploading revised bouquets and tried the ftp connection within the DreamBoxedit app. Now for some reason it won't connect. I cant see the network connection as active in the router either.

    I have checked the following:

    Application:

    1) FTP Settings in Dreamboxedit are OK.

    DreamBox:

    1) Network is enabled and on dhcp
    2) Rebooted Dream box, hard and soft.
    3) Disabled network, rebooted, enabled network, rebooted.
    4) On router DHCP settings I also enabled 'use same IP address' for the dreambox device.

    Cabling:

    Checked all cables. All fine.

It seems like the Netwok connection on the dreambox is dead> Any ideas pls ?

Try to connect with a normal ftp program or telnet and see if that works.

Double check that the ip address hasn't changed.

If you still can't connect, you might need to reflash, sometimes things just happen.

I know you probably don't want to loose all your settings and you can't backup and transfer to the PC so this is something you could try, not sure if it will work as I just thought of it a minutes ago ...

Press Yellow > User features > Image Backup

    Then...

Press Yellow > User features > Flash Image

In theory, it should flash your backup image and restore all your settings...as I say, never tried it but it sounds like it should work. The backup script creates a backup.img file in /tmp and the flash script looks for a backup.img file in /tmp so it should work.

      Hi,

Many Thanks. Will give that a go tomorrow. I might have a problem with my Power Over Ethernet (POE) adaptors. So will check them first. I'm using two VeseNet PLA-85-3E.

Anyhow, been a long day. Thanks for all the info guys.
