Am not sure exactly what you trying to achieve.

which programs fail to connect??

if the ping is replying back 100% then that means there is communication within the network.

I.e the router is able to talk to the box and box is able to talk about.

if you have desktop connected to the router as well then ping the box via the laptop / desktop and see what replies you get then.

Finally please explain more on what you trying to achieve because so far it doesnt sense
