channels locked

Hi guys

This is my first post as I only found the site today. It does look pretty impressive though

Anyway, my problem is that i wa given a box today by a friend who stopped using it. When I plugged the box in at home it was working fine. I was able to watch all the channels.

This evening i decided to have a play with the menu buttons and see what it could do. I hit the panic button like a fool and it seemed to wipe all the channels out. So I searched for all the channels again using my area code (bolton) they all came back but when I went to view them they all have a key highlighted in the info bar as though they are locked. I can still get Itv and bbc1 but thats about it.

As I am new to this I have not got much idea as what to do and I know te guy who I give it me as not got a clue.

I have a feeling I have wiped somthing out when i pressed the panic button. Am I going to need to add new keys or update the software???? the software I think that is on the box is the DK. The box is a 500

Hope you guys can help me out as I am pretty interested in how all this works. Once I have got it sorted I will then spend some time reading the post's on here.

Do a rescan on bruteforce hope that will sort you out. If it comes up a with something like this for example E4

E4 (Skins) = this channel is viewable
E4 blank space = the channel is missing

I have done a rescan but not sure if I have done it on bruteforce. what is this??? when I go tomy channel list now i do get E4 = SKINS but there is a key in the info bar which is highlighted.

i hit the panic button before i reflashed my box and added the keys etc back then scanned if you need any help ive got a working image i can send you

Hitting the panic button wipes all the keys,roms etc etc.Effectively making the box a simple FTA receiver.In order to be able to receive all channels you will need to ftp the missing files back to the correct folders on your box.Search the red stickies at the top of this forum they are excellent guides telling you what you need and how to do it.

Any idea which are the missing files and folders. I have been able to make a connection just not sure which the files are

I would hazard a guess that you need to replace the keys and the roms.Look in var/keys and var/scce if they are empty you have found the problem.Keys go in var/keys and roms in var/scce.
