hi guys found some really useful info for my new box who can give me some guidance thanks to everyones help so far,managed to get a ethernet & ethernet x over but the null cable i got is to receive 9pins in each end of cable but my laptop has got 15 pins' bolox' what next ,also the spoonfed down load showing dreamup- 92 could only find dreamup1335 is this still compat with the other files on spoonfed guide ?

the 15 pin port on your laptop is not for flashing boxes , and if your laptop is windows vista you will have another problem (compatability issues) .i have an older dell desktop (windows xp) which i purchased for ?50 euro it has two 9 pin connections for the null modem cable and two by usb ports (you should try and buy an older desktop like i did ,no vista compatability issues then and you can easily flash any box ) you could of course try a usb to serial adaptor cable . it connects to your null modem cable (making it usb on the pc end )but you will need a driver for it (and again vista will likely raise its ugly head) if your in the uk that box will not work very much longer in any case .but because its a dreambox and has an ethernet connection there is always a chance of being able to use it in the future . you should be able to use any older version of dreamup for the dm500.

lost channels

i used dreamup to flash my box now it doesn't appear to be working through my tv blank screen but power getting to it any hints

was it working before you flashed it (any free to air channels ) and what image did you use . did you disconnect the cables before flashing was complete .it would be strange to have nothing on screen (try your scart cable ) power down the box and power up again after a few seconds .

just tried flashing a new dm500s , with nabiilosat v08 dm500s maxvar blue image , using my trusty null modem cable , which i've done no probs , a few times in the past.
The box connects 1st time , but when you start the upload , it only runs to 3 bars on the progress bar then stops and displays "aborted by user , exiting ".
Also , where i had the original enigma image , the box had on at initial power up . i've a blank screen .
Can anyone help ??

the aborted by user message is usually an indication that you are using the wrong version of dreamup ,you need an older version . i uploaded an older version to the download section that works fine on a dm500s.

Spot on there Mate ! many thanks . the image went on 1st attempt but the problem i have now is the image seems unstable , it seems to be switching between the dreambox and dtv , every 30secs or so .
The dreambox and it's power supply seem stable , no flickering power lights etc.
I've reloaded the image twice now withthe same result , never had this prob before , has anyone else ??

i dont know about the maxvar blue image mate but you could try reflashing with a different image such as nabilosat darkstar2 .before reflashing in dreamup look just above where it says flash and you should see flash erase (click on that to erase the current image ) and flash as normal. if you have a c line save your cccam.cfg file in your pc using dream control center.

spot on yet again Mate , Darkstar flashed and booted up perfect 1st time , whacky things these little boxes !.

for the ?50 or ?60 the dm500 costs they offer a lot ,however a faulty/corrupt image can cause a lot of grief .that image nabilosat darkstar2 is great image and does all you could ask of it however you may find your missing a few channels because the image hasnt got all the newer frequencies in it (dont worry)that can happen with any image ,you can easily add the missing frequencies with your remote control or you add an up todate satellite.xml file ,i can help you with either of these methods .

ok mate here is how to add frequencies with your remote control,

your image can be missing frequencies/channels if its not a newly released image ,especially when viewing channels on the sky satellite as this is relatively new. you can add frequencies with your remote control. press menu on your remote ,press number 6 (setup) ,choose service searching ,choose trannsponder edit, now you will see astra/eurobird 28.2 east highlighted in red and below you will also see sat highlighted in red ,and on the right you will see a list of all the frequencies in your box . now press the right arrow button on your remote control and you will see add highlighted in red . now click on this link

here you will see a list of all frequencies and channels on the sky satellite ,now back on the tv screen look at the frequencies that you have ,start with the first frequency and scroll down through them one at a time and compare them to the frequencies on your computer screen . when you see a frequency you dont have press ok on your remote ,now simply put in the frequency ,choose horizontal or vertical ,set fec (usualy 2/3 or 5/6 ),and set symbol rate (usually 22000 or 27500) then press the green button to save ,carry on adding frequencies untill you have them all and then exit and save .then return to service searching and choose automatic transponder scan ,press ok ,you will see a valid transponder has been found,now press the green button to scan for channels ,you should now have all the available frequencies/channels from sky. in the frequency list in the link above you will see frequencies that have a strange fec and symbol rate (most likely they are non sky channels or feeds) there is no need to add them unless you want to.

you can also put an up todate satellite.xml file in to your box ,to do this you need to download a file called dream control center and install it on your pc ,if you have a wireless router this file will let you access your box wirelessly. you should be able to download dream control center from the links in my signature area ,here are the instructions on how to set up dream control center.

open dream control center ,you will see a picture of a computer and a picture of a dreambox (we need to add a picture of a router to that ) look to the left of the picture of the computer and you will see a few options hub/crossover/router ,click on router and a picture of a router will appear next to the two other pictures. at the bottom of the picture of the router you will see search (click on this ) now you will see a big box with search in the top left corner (click on search) dcc is now searching for your routers ip address (it can take about a minute to do this) when the search is over double click on the ip address to accept it . now you are back to where you were previously (look below the router picture and you will see that search has been replaced by your routers ip address ) you now need to follow the above instructions and do the same with the dreambox picture . when you have the dreambox ip displayed where it said search go to the computer picture and click on reconnect ,all being well you will see the text network ok and a thick green line will be going between all 3 pictures ,your network is now setup .

now you can easily put an up todate satellite.xml file in to your box (a satellite,xm file will have all the most up todate frequencies on all satellites) here are the instructions on putting a satellite.xml file into your box .

want to create your own satellite.xml file all you have to do is click on this link

put a tick in the box of the satellites you want ,choose all channels or only hd channels or only sd channels . then enter the security code and download the file to your computer ,use dream control center to put the file in to your dreambox . (open dream control center and look down near the bottom left of the screen and you will see ftp) click on ftp (now you will see 2 boxes of files ,the box of files on the left is files in your dreambox and the box of files on the right is files on your pc ) ,in the box on the left double click on var ,then double click on etc ,then look in the box on the right of the screen it contains files in your computer ,click on the satellite.xml file you downloaded to highlight it and then look between the two boxes and you will see two little arrows one pointing left the other pointing right (click on the arrow pointing left ) the satellite.xml file is now in the left hand box which means its in your dreambox exit out of dream control center and reboot your box . thats it.

Hi Mate , only part way through your 1st chapter at the Mo ! , when i open transponder edit . hotbird 13E is highlighted and i don't know how to change it ?
