hi people - the last 24hours have been intresting!

now have dreambox 500c(belive it to be a clone)

now can do bruteforce and have loads of channels BUT it appears only the fta one's work?

what am i doing wrong?

firmware is enigma - what value is there to changing?

If you are in a nagra 3 area you will get nothing else. All areas will go Nagra 3 in next few months or so.

I have the same problem as sir alexader the great, excuse my ignorance, but from the list of locations above, are those areas on 3.7 supposed to still function on all channels and those switched over to nagra 3 not. My location is in the 3.7 list and I can see all the channels listed but only watch some FTA ones.

The first part of the list shows those areas which have switched over to 3.7 which means that they are getting ready for Nagra3. You should still be able to view all channels in those areas so long as you've got the "magic" files.
The second part of the list shows those areas which have switched over to Nagra3. VM subscribers in these areas will have received new cards and possibly new boxes to view the channels. Dreambox users will only be able to view FTA channels in these areas.

Before you mess with magic files do an auto-scan
Do NOT fac. reset before you scan, that would delete magic files which are already on your box.
You may get 2 of every chl., 1 scrambled & 1 clearing.
If so back-up image to P,C., Do fac.reset, flash back-up image
to box with dream-up, then re-scan & re-do bouquets with
working chls. only.

Thanks for all the advice, have worked out the probelm. After doing an auto transponder scan i got loads of channels listed but pretty much none of them actually showed a picture and sound. I then selected one of the non functioning channels, held down the info button for a few seconds and selected the newly presented evocamd option and all of a sudden every channel then worked. I hope this info helps others to get sorted, if so press the thanks button.

Go to Sky Sports 1

Holding INFO button to access cam set-up has been well
documented on this forum & is no hidden secret.
When in cam set-up page scroll left or right to select chosen
cam as default cam. Default cam will auto-start every time box
re-boots or is powered on, unless you have changed some
settings in expert set-up. Have a read of instructions that came with original DK,1. image, Some good info there
Here's a little tip for you if you use text on dreambox;
Go to System settings--OSD settings--hit yellow button
Follow instructions to alter text page on screen, hit green to save. Now you won't be missing first 2 letters on every line.
Hope N3 don't knock on your door before they have a C/S
server for dream-cable boxes

Don't know what image you're using, so best bet is MAN.SCAN
HIT; menu--info--stream info--scroll left or right to transp.info.
Write down; freq, modulation, & sym. rate.
Go to MAN. SCAN
Enter; FREQ, MODULATION, & SYM. RATE values. FEC is auto.
Click on INV. & NETWORK boxes.
If all settings are correct LOCK & SYNC boxes auto-tick.
START SCAN.
