Virgin basic package?????

someone that already has got a basic package from virgin and put a dreambox 500c on the cable does he need to put his card in as well in the slot?

No...the emu (evocamd, mgcamd, etc.) and key/rom files decode the channels so you don't need any cards.

But i would advise having a 2 way splitter and keep your subbed box active, so they can still communicate with it. or get a 3 way splitter and have your modem on too.
