    dreambox fails to start

    hello all,

went to power up my dreambox 500c and it doesn't start. Lights are correct but no picture.

I havn't flashed the box in ages, so its just a random thing.

was wondering if a dreamup serial null modem update would fix it?

i have an old dw_v2.img file and wondered if its still current?

currently on 2.1 but the 2 would still work.

there's a new DW 3.0 neutrino coming very soon too.

        hey all!

got a problem flashing my box with dreamup

connected the box via null modem

got the "ping result ok box is alive"

selected the image and clicked open and got an error message which i can't remember.

now i cannot connect to the box at all to try again.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Download another image from here. The image you selected is not compatible with dreamup.

the box will not connect at all now. I can't get far enough to flash another image. Would trying to upload a wrong
            image damage the box?

            will the default image do?

i have decided that my box is dead, i believe the bootloader is shot.

it seems to be a clone from what information i've found.

would it be worth soldering a jtag cable to it, to try an fix it that way?
