DM500 trying to use ethernet cable

im trying to connect my pc and dreambox 500c using a ethernet cable but keeps saying cant connect any help please

if trying to connect direct from pc to dreambox you need a cross over ethernet cable
if trying to connect through a router a normal ethernet should be ok

Have you checked the network configuration on your dm500, is it set for DHCP or static, if static have you configured the gateway address? How are you connecting to your dm500 on your pc?

mate could u give me a step by step guide please i havent a clue all i know is ive got the ethernet cable running from the back of my dreambox and going in2 the back of my router

your router needs to be able to see the box in your network , if you press menu on the remote ,then go in to setup ,then go in to expert settings and then open communication settup. you should see dhcp , if it is disabled enable it and press green button to save .wait a few seconds and go back in to communication setup in nameserver and gateway you should see your router ip address displayed in both ,your router can now see the dreambox ,go back up to dhcp and disable it again so you will have a static ip ,make sure network is enabled then press green to save . now go back and try connecting to the dreambox again . i assume your using dream control center .

well it depends on your image ,i press the yellow button on the remote ,and then press yellow again ,then i see options like plugins ,image cams ,scripts ,choose plugins and press ok on the plugin that you want .

how do i no what image ive got

reboot the box and see what it says on the tv screen when the box switches back on. if it says dk thats digital kaos image ,if it says gp its gemini project etc .
