    setting up DM500c

    Hi there,

I'm pretty new to all this caper but have managed to flash my newly accquired DM500c to kaos 1.1 and it got it working

Problem is I cannot find a transponder when doing the scan, the kaos version has lots of choices for UK and Ireland but I cant seem to get anything on any of the Ireland listings. I keep getting all known transponders have been tried but no lock was possible, verify antenna/cable setup or try another satellite/network. I've got 65% SNR, 99%AGR so it looks like I've got some form of signal...

I've downloaded the cables.xml file and that's not made any difference can someone by any chance provide me with the settings for NTL for Kildare, Ireland?

In the meantime I'm going to try any of the ones listed in Ireland to see if that works, if any of you folks have the transponder info that I'd need then please pm me

    Thanks
    Michael

An SNR of 65% is not strong enough to lock onto any transponders. Are you sure your cable is dvb-c (dm500c) and not dvb-t (dm500t)???

If you're using a splitter remove it and connect the dreambox to the main feed and try again. You may need a signal booster to get the SNR % up.

      Hi there,

Thanks Devilfish, I'm not fully sure if its if its the dm500-t or c that I need... now that you mention it, I've recently moved in and all I know is that ntl were offering me broadband/tv packages. Figured the DM500-c would do the job :-s

I know there's a splitter on the connection box so I'll see if taking that out of the equation helps.

If that doesnt work then its back to the drawing board and off I go looking for a -t box

Thanks and I'll keep you posted...
