Well, according to dhl website, my new 500c has cleared customs (woo hoo! no charges!) and is now with the delivery courier to arrive today.
the thread on which image do you use has me wanting to try the pli jade image. (nothing against dk btw!). anyhoo, ive been reading on the pli site, but in their install guide, i can find no reference to scanning for cable channels only sat.
question is, is uk cable support built in?

Make sure you backup your magic files, bouquets and services and than just flash the pli image onto your new box and restore the backup files. You will need to download and install Evocamd 2.12 from their server as the image has CCcam as the default cam.

My misunderstanding I thought you already had a box and you were either upgrading or adding another box to your collection which was why I suggested you backed up your files.

i do already have a 500c with dk v1.1 on it. the new box is for upstairs and wanted to try pli jade. it is compatible with uk cable right?

The Pli Jade is fully compatible with the uk cable in fact more so than most other images. Flash the Pli image onto your new box and than copy from your current box the var/keys, var/scce and the services & bouquets files to the new box. Download and install Evocamd 2.12 and viola !

well, box came and i installed pli jade. i dont like it and have now put dk v1.1 onto it. i strayed from the true path and apologise. i think i've got a dodgy scart connection on this one as sometimes when i turn over, the tv goes from av1 to tv.

I had that problem with my dm500 and found it was lot better if changed it from RGB to svideo. I have now swapped it with a dm600 and I am not having the same problem probably because the clone dm600 tuner is better than the clone dm500 tuner.
