    Box not connecting Using Dreamup

    Hi

I have 2 500c's so I know it's not my method as I am able to connect one and not the other.

I can't get past 'connection prepared, now switch on the dreambox'.

    Any suggestions?

if you say the other one works spot on it might have a dodgy serial port m8, or try reflashing using flash wizard pro or telnet and try again

Oh man, another learning curve. I've been so lazy and today I'm meant to be giving this box to somebody.

Going back to when all images failed (about 6 months ago) this box had a problem.

telnet & flash wizard pro are new to me.

I have manged to download fwp, and on first glance perhaps this might be my easiest, if not quickest route.

However I can't seem to find a tut on it. Do I connect using crossover cable directly into pc or via router. Can you direct me to any tut that will make my life easier without my hand being held.

        Download this first:

Digital Kaos - Downloads - Dreambox Forever

This has all the things you need.

First you need to eastablish the i.p address of your box by going into the communications networking options through the setup option on your dm500c

Run the dcc program and connect to your dreambox through that.

The standard ip of the dreambox is 192.168.0.24 although this can be easily changed.

Once you have established connection with your dreambox, go into flash wizard pro and click the configuration tab. Make sure the ip address is the same as your dreambox.

Go back into the flash option and where its says browse/drag and drop file here, that is where the image file needs to go.

Then click on flash and this will upload your new image to the box.

I must state that if you dont have an image on the box at the minute you will need to go down the Dreamup route.

        Hope this helps.

          Thanks for above post but.

          I have zoom router.

          ip is 10.0.0.2

Whilst I'm very inexperienced at all of this using dcc i am getting PC with 10.0.0.4 and router with 10.0.0.2

I am using crossover cable. Do I have to change dreambox to match this 10.0.0 as I have read in a tut here that they all need to be similar. At the moment I get 'check dreambox ip', but I know it's correct

Basically I have not got a clue

          EDIT

          Slowly slowly.

By using the same procedure on both of the 500c's I have for the first time got them to behaive in a similar fashion.

I have changed IP address of dreambox to 10.0.0.* and DCC is now showing Network ok with bootmanager not found.

          Progress I believe.

You have connection then. What you need to do now is open flash wizard and do as i stated above. typeing the ip address of your dreambox into flash wizard through the configuration.

Drag and drop the image or browse and flash. All should be fine.

              Yeah all okay now.

Made back up of good image and restored it over bad image on other box.

Just checked dreamup okay on both boxes. So both boxes identical now. Thanx for hand holding. All very easy when you know how.

              However

              |I now have DW1.65 image on both units.

I think I ought to upgrade to DK1.1

My only concern is that I really don't understand what I need to save to make the upgrade a simplistic as possible.

I have SBO running and from memory it was quite finicky to get it to work.

Sorry to be a pain, but if I follow tut

'If you are currently using a DW image and you want to copy your services and bouquets to this image, do the following...

Using remote, Blue > User Features > ServicesBackup

FTP to your dreambox and navigate to /tmp.
Copy the services.tar.gz file to your PC.
Flash the new DK v1 image.
Copy the services.tar.gx file from your PC to your dreambox.
Using remote, Yellow > User Features > ServicesRestore
Exit out all menus, hold 'INFO' to bring up the EMU manager and press OK to start

DO NOT COPY YOUR WHOLE /var/tuxbox/config/enigma FOLDER TO THIS IMAGE!!!! IT WILL NOT WORK!!!!

              No Keys or Roms
This image is supplied without any keys or roms. It is a FTA image only!
But I did find that someone has uploaded these files which appear to work fine with this and any other image.'

Can I not use my present keys and roms. Will that give me SBO?

Sbo is in your services list so when you back that up and the install dk1.1 all you channels remain the same. Then just add the keys to the correct folders.

This is painful for me, so I am sure it is worse for you.

So I press the blue button. Up comes a window called plugins

                  1. DW Dream Menu
                  2. Tuxbox Commander
                  3. Teletext
                  Recover Recording EIT
                  Start Direct Recording
                  Stop Direct Recording

                  Via the DW Dream Menu

I can backup image, but I assume that is not what I am looking for.

Using remote, Blue > User Features > ServicesBackup eludes me. Am I really being that thick?

No should be one saying backup services.

this will then be in the /tmp file when you ftp back to the box. Copy this to the pc.

The when you install the dk1.1. image transfer it back to the /tmp file.

Then on the dk1.1 image do a services restore throught the kaos panel which is the yellow button the user features services restore.

Perhaps it was a dw2 thing.

                      I can't find it.

Is it possible to just copy them into tmp folder. I can see them via tuxbox and reckon I could use flashfxp to get the job done. If so is there a certain structure I need to keep.

I really can't find back up services.

I see 1 services file and many bouquet files

                      EDIT

In fact it is easy to copy them using remote to tmp folder. However I do not know if folder structure is an issue

Well I have nothing really to lose as I have 2 boxes both with the same image.

I'll give it a go later. Thank you for all your assistance during the course of today.
