DM500 Digital kaos and linux black box flashing problem

    Alright all,
i flashed a linux black box with the DK image from the download section and booted up the box after flashing(with dream up) but it hangs on the startup logo screen and doesnt respond to any controls.I was unable to setup a network to ftp in the necessary files.
There was no response whatsoever, has anyone encountered this before.
There wasnt a problem with the box as i flashed another image on afterwards but I would have preffered to have DK on it.

You're the second person to say this in as many days, hmmm strange!

I'll test it out and see if I can repeat the hangup.

Try flashing the v1 image and see if it does the same with that.

        proably a flash-erase needed freck,
do a flash-erase and then reflash it again,
        boom!

i dont know what image was on it before i flashed it satman but i'll try both options.
I'll do a flash erase and load on the newer DK image and ill try the original image version 1 image on it aswell.
Those boxes seem to work a lot slower than any other 500 i've used maybe its the image....just an observation tho.
          Thanx sat.

probably a maxvar/non maxvar incompatibility on flash. as i said, but you obviously know what to try keep us posted.

Ok lads I've done a flash erase and flashed on version 1 put on all the necessary stuff and no problems. Then i flashed on the v1.1 and its up and running now.
Maybe i should have done a flash erase after version 1 but i just reflashed it but on initially taking the box from its packaging and starting from scratch maybe the flash erase is needed.
but saying all that the DW version 2.0 worked ok....strange.
A friend of mine has a few more of those linux boxes so i'll keep ye posted on their progress just out of their packaging eg flash erasing etc.

Glad you got it flashed ok.

I downloaded the v1.1 image from our downloads and flash it with dreamup and it flashed no probs.

hi lads just to confirm, tried flashing kaos image 1 and 1.1 same problem. tried flash erase on third box and flashed with no problems, by the way box's are from the same batch as frecks, strange one eh.

Well it looks like flash erasing the boxes before flashing then.
I'd like to know what image is on them initially tho??
                      Any thoughts Ken?

You can press MENU > Information > About and it should tell you what image it is. Or sometimes the bootup screen can give clues.
