DM500 Problems with my DM500T !

Hey everyone, i just found this forum, what a fantastic resource for dreamboxes. Well heres my situation. i have a dreambox dm500T with the old DW1.65 image on it that has been working perfectly for the last 2 years. the other night at around 1am, picture started freezing and i noticed the signal strength dropped down to around 10% and i lost picture, so i went to bed and left it.

the next day i powered back on and the signal strength is jumping from between 10% upto 96% continuously, so i have picture for a minute, then when signal drops pictuire goes,

i have checked all cables are tight, i have replaced power inserter with a new one, i have changed cams,

does anybody know what could be causing my problem, i left it for 3 days thinking that the bad weather may be causing the signal to drop right down, but its still the same

does anybody have any ideas?

Could be the tuner inside your box mate.

try installing a different image and see if that makes any odds.

If not try a signal booster. Then assume that it is an internal problem.

Find out from anyone local to you with same box/image if they are having any problems.

do you know of any other images that will work on a 500T?

Sounds like a faulty downconverter to me.
Have seen this happen a few times.
Did you try a different receiver to see if that works ok ,it would isolate the problem area for you ?
If you dont have a spare receiver you could run the cable into the back of the tv and check the analogue reception to see if its ok and not ghosting.

i had thought it might be the down converter, but i have no way of changing this as its up on my roof

im going to try a new image later today and see if that works, if it doesnt it must be a faulty tuner or the down converter as you suggested because i fitted a brand new power inserter already

i wasnt aware that we could get analogue T.V in Ch**us MMDS area?

I doubt a new image will make any difference.
Yes you can get around 3 unencrypted analogue channels on Chorus MMDS,Sky One,Sky News and TV3 just do an automatic scan on your tv.
