How do i Play Files From Pc on MY DM800

You need to set up a mount on the dreambox which points to a shared folder on your PC.

First of all, ftp to the box, go to /var/mnt and create a folder called 'movies'.

Use the web interface to set up the mount instead of the remote and menus.

Enter the ip address of your dreambox into your browser.
Username: root
Password: dreambox

Go to CONFIG > MOUNT MANAGER

Enter in the details. (see pic)

Make sure the folder on your pc is shared.

Click mount and after about 10 secs you should see a green tick, that's the mount successful.

On the dreambox, press MENU > File Mode > root > var > mnt > movies

You should see the contents of the shared folder on your PC.

Oh...and the dreambox will only play MPEG movies or variations of MPEG. It won't play avi, divx, xvid, etc.

folks.i have had a d/box7000 for about 5 years and i am only using it with cams/cards etc.my point is i need a dummys instruction on how to use my box properly,i have read and read on different forums to no avail,the words var/root etc mean nothing to me,so where do i start to get this marvellous box working,i am a novice on both d/box-laptop

my DM500 is able to play Mpeg in File mode. Any method to let it play avi, rm, divx etc? would like to watch videos i downloaded on my tv via the DM500
