Remote control has changed its own buttons!

I have a dreambox 500 and, a few days ago I disconnected it as I had a new tv, when I reconnected it (cables all back in the same place) the remote control now has a mind of its own.
For example:
To exit from any menu you now press HELP.
The left and right volume control now changes the channels up or down.
and so on..... Of course now I cannot control the volume.

Does anyone have any idea at all how this might have happened and if there is a way to get it back to normal.

possablity the the chip inside the remote has one of the pins held low by a resistor that may be faulty or fell off. To make sure you can't mix and match tv remote

Failing that you have seen Tracy Barlow on your new tv and dribbled inside the remote causing the chick to chance it's coding status
