DM500 Password issues

I have a DM500-S and I don't know the root password for it. It's not "dreambox" or "dream". I read that you can use TuxBox to make the necessary changes but I don't think I have TuxBox plugin in the Dreambox and how do I transfer the plugin to the dreambox if I can't even login when I do the FTP?

I'm a newbie at this stuff so appreciate all your help.

usually username is root and password is dreambox. If this is not working the easiest thing to solve your problem is to flash a new image

I figured as much from my research on the web. My problem is these passwords ("dreambox" or dream) do not work. I suspect the person who installed me the dreambox wanted to me to call him every six months or so, so he could charge me for the key renewals or whatever (I think I'm on a cardsharing server system ... I hope my technical terms is correct because I'm a serious newbie on these dreambox thing)

your best bet is to flash another image and then again try username root and password dreambox thats standard i dont think there is anyother way. Try different Ftp programmes that might help.

if your worried about your c-line getting stolen, change the ip of your box, or go into your router setup screen and disable or delete your DNS info

as for the password, what image you using ?
