DB with pli iolite

Hi, I read this thread with great interest. Unfortunately having issues with getting it to work. can't get vlcf to run on my dreambox 600pvr w pli iolite. is this a known issue with a known workaround? Any suggestions? Cheers /2B

I have followed instructions to vthe letter. PIcture fine, movies playing but there is no sound. Any way that this can be fixed.

which version of vlc should i use on my computer would version 0.9.8a work?

No sound here either, gemini 4.60 and vlc 0.86f and 0.98a, the two of them, get picture but no sound...
I also have a dbox with sporster and vlc 0.86f works very well with it, but the dm500 does not like it... any advice?

I am still struggling with this, I get video and audio for the dbox2 no problem with 0.86f, and I have the ibox in the same network, I have vlcf installed in gemini 4.60, I can see the files as in the dbox2. I can select it, but I only get video, no sound in the ibox, the same file plays fine in the dbox....
Any ideas?

Hi all,

For the guys not getting sound this is usually a setting on your box. Go to A/V Settings in your system settings and make sure AC3 Default Output is UN-CHECKED. If checked it causes a conflict with VLC Frontend which means the file you are trying to play gets no sound.

For everyone who has the file playing but the volume is low, this is because VLC Frontend is set to 50% volume. To increase the volume start a file playing. Once the file is playing press OK followed by the Blue button. This should increase the volume. Set it to whatever is best for you. I tend to have at 100%.

the only thing is that as I could not get it working I tried pli jade2 that comes with its own movieplayer, and It is working for me now, so will wait until a new gemini to try vlcf.

I'm streaming from WinXP to my DM500, and it works great! But I have a very annoying problem. When I go to 'Menu > File mode' it starts playing one of the files (movie/mp3/..) in the shared folder, usually the one that was played last. Does anyone know how I can set it to open a folder (like the root folder) every time I go to File Mode instead of opening one of the files?

Whats IMG are you using? some IMG's just don't work, the site IMG is fine, also reading a couple of people are having problems, your best using VLC v8.6H, most versions above this 8.6h, miss something in the streaming and crashes regularly!

Ive tried everything to get this working but no joy at all
Ive got the front end installed OK now on the dreambox 500C
(running Vista BTW)
In the DK image I have this in the web server of the dreambox

Ive forwarded port 8080 to 192.168.1.70 (the PC)and there is a small movie in D:\Movies folder ready to view
Ive installed VLC 0.8.6h also.
When I go to the front end on the DB all I get is no server connection and to check settings and make sure VLC is started. Tried just starting VLC as normal and still the error remains.

Ive tried going to the web interface of the DB and browsing for the movie - VLC opens up but gets an error unable to play from temp file ie. Unable to open 'C:\Users\LEEGRI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\film name.avi
Ive then tried copying the video to the temp file and then trying the above again ----- suddenly the file plays with no interaction at all - ok cool getting somewhere however copying a file to the temp folder isnt really user friendly and I think this method bypasses the VLC side of it totally.

My VLCF settings are as follows (the important bits)

Can anybody offer any advice or guidance please......really stuck here......would rather get the front end working....rather than copying a film to a temp folder

The MPEG transport stream the Dreambox outputs using an Enigma image (such as DK1.1) is out of spec. This did not used to be a problem but sometime in the past the VLC people improved (?) their software. The latest version of VLC (1.0.3) will reject these out of spec streams.

You have to go back to about 0.8.6 to get it to work.
