Hallo there,
I have just purchased and set up a new Dreambox DM800.
And I have a problem on the final leg of my network setup.
Some background ...
the box is hooked up to my satellite and seeing all the available channels.
I have plugged a recommended wireless USB dongle into it and this is fine; drivers loaded and being seen by the system.
The wireless adapter is configured as completely as possible; it is set it up with a fixed IP address, Gateway IP, Mask, DNS servers of my provider, my encryption key and DHCP switched off.
The network test is succeeding too when I run it off the System / Network menu. Only the DHCP test is red which is correct; the DNS servers and IP are confirmed and it indicates a "Connected" status.
My WAP is fully visible ...
But ... I am simply cannot connect to the Dreambox from my own (Windows) network.
A simple ping gets a "Destination Host unreachable" which I have had before; is at least not a timeout!!!
Some pointers:
... I have a workgroup setup on my Windows network (this is not a showstopper for DHCP clients but can cause problems with Fixed IPs!)
And ... I cannot see the MAC address of the Dreambox on the WAP ... I filled it in for connection control.
And .. .when I run the "WLAN status" on the Dreambox the "bitrate" and "encryption" are flagged as "unsupported"
So .. some finetuning necessary ... but I simply cannot get any further!!!
I am pretty sure some settings are required on the Linux side but the problem is I am blind!!!
I cannot get on to this box!!!
Right now I don't know what else I can try!
Can anyone please help me get over this last hurdle?
