1. Check Device Manager, if you can see your USB - rs232 adapter under COM Ports.
- Right click the driver for the adapter
- Properties
- Choose the tab "Port settings"
I have found out that these settings works best with DreamUP and Hyperterminal:
Bits per second: 115200
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: Xon / Xoff
You can see what COM Port it has been assigned by clicking the "Advanced" button.
You can also change it to your own choose.
To be absolute sure, connect it to the dreambox. (No Power supply connected, only seriell cable)
Then you disconnect the USB adapter and then connect it again. (Remove it from the USB port and put it back in).
- Start DreamUP.
- Press "Connect"
It should say something like "Waiting for dreambox".
Then you connect the Power Supply Unit.
If everything is fine you can connect.
****TIP****
dm600 that can be flashed through HTTP browser.
Upload .nfi file to dreambox with rs232 takes about 30 minutes.
With DM600 you can in DreamUp mark "Use network".
Then manually put in IP-Adress, remote IP (Box) is your own choice.
Connect as you did before.
Start with seriell cable and ethernet cable this time.
When the settings are done, press connect and then put the power back on.
You can now reach the dreambox thorugh http://box-ip
I hope it helps you!Comment

Try and get to a computer and flash with a null modem I know people have had success using a usb to rs232 but i have tried it on different laptops and 2 different leads and never been able to flash a box this way. It can be more hassle than it's worth
THE TRUTH
The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12
Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.Comment

What i'm saying is you may never get it working just as i couldn't. I had to use a pc and connect a null modem in order to flash the box.
