Card slot query

Hi everyone, this is just a query, i have a 500c the last year and i was just wondering what the card slot is for i've never seen any posts that relate to it, im thinking its there for show or maybe there will be use for it in the future...

It's for a smartcard, just like your virgin box uses. The cable version is also the same as the satellite version only with a different tuner and you need to use a smartcard to watch any satellite packages. It's to allow you to view premium channels on your network, normally.

The emu, i.e. evocamd, does the same job as a card would do.

Theoretically, you could use your virgin card and get the channels that you pay for.
