Sky Sports 1 and 3 freezing...help please!!!

Ive had my dreambox 500 for a while now and Ive never been able to watch Sky Sports 1 or 3 for anymore than a few minutes before they freeze and i get the notice on the screen saying "service could not be found", I originally thought it was a weak signal, but Ive tried the both in a few different houses and I have the same problems, so Im thinking it may be a problem with the box.....

Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction please

There are a few threads on this. I had the exact same problem and fixed mine buying a 6db attenuator (?2). Plug it into the cable and mines now works flawlessly. Others may recommend a booster but its worth a couple of quid to try this first IMO.

yeah ive got the same problem so i have ordered a booster so hopefully wont get this problem again.

An attenuator is what you need. Get a variable one and find the balance.

i did some tests with a set of attenuators.

with no attenuator fitted. snr 96 agc 39 ber 0 with picture breakup.

with a 6db attenuator fitted. snr 96 agc 41 ber 0 with no picture breakup.

with a 12db attenuator fitted. snr 95 agc 46 ber 0 with no picture breakup.

with a 18db attenuator fitted. snr 93 agc 55 ber 0 with no picture breakup.

with a 24db attenuator fitted. snr 90 agc 74 ber 18-70. couldn't see any picture breakup.

i left it on 18.

seems my signal was too strong after all.
