Dreamup can see box but no ping

    Hi guys,

I am using a usb to serial adapter that is connecting on com port 4.

When I boot dreamup and click connect, followed by plugging in the dreambox, I get the following:
    21:56:49 box type: DM500

but that is as far as it goes. No ping and no flash option.

    Any suggestions? Many thanks

    P.S it's a new blackbox 500.

I have never used a usb to serial adapter but you are much better off having the proper null modem cable when flashing a dm500. It always works and is always used as the last resort for recovering the dm500 when all else fails.

He's proberbly using a usb-serial adaptor plugged into a null modem cable. anyway, i have never had any joy with a usb-serial adaptor, iv heard people have using various different drivers but i always find a computer with a built in 9pin port never fails, i know a lot of newer computers dont have them (like mine didnt!) but the 9pin adaptor card which fits and installs permenently into your computer solves all these probs is well worth a fiver, check them out on ebay.

Set the adapter to com1 using the guide above and try again. Make sure the com dropdown menu in dreamup is the same as your settings on the PC. I have one of these (bought one just to try it) and it works fine (with an ajoining null modem cable).

Hi, I used an old PC at my work in the end. I was using Windows XP. Would still be interested in getting it working though, so might have another go later!

So they do work then!, its prob the cheap ebay ones which are rubbish, i might get one from a reputable dealer vista compatable and try it on the laptop.
