Ive got my dm500c set up with a samsung 23" LCD (LE23R41B) - tv is a 16:9 widescreen

Naturally as my tv is widescreen and is set on auto wide thru the tv menu, i went into my dreambox and set the output to 16:9 widescreen, however the picture seems stretched vertically to me, if i go in and change to 4:3 on the dreambox i get borders at the top and bottom, but the picture looks much better to me

How can this be?

The program is probably recorded in 4:3 and by setting it to 16:9 on the dreambox, you're stretching it. Maybe...I'm not sure .

Depending on the image, it will tell you what the ratio if the program is on the infobar. The DK image does.
