Stream the Dreambox thru internet?

So im pretty new to this scene, but been reading loads of great threads, I've seen its possible to stream a dreambox to a pc thru your network, but is it possible to go one step further and stream thru the web??

I've read but havent tried that its possible to stream to windows media player, so can you stream to windows media encoder and then broadcast that stream, like a slingbox??? Would be pretty cool to watch on my mobile or pc at work...

Hi, just read the guide and the bit that confuses me is that the dns forwards to a port on the dreambox, yet the stream is coming from a local pc acting as a server? Shouldn't the dns forward to a port on the local pc acting as a server? Or have I misunderstood the instructions.

Isn't there just simple solution? Something like streaming server for dreambox which will send a stream to a broadcast address like VLC can?

I never got this to work. just keep getting an error from vlc when I run the m3u file. says 'unable to open 'http://xxx:8080'

I have taken a look at this, for a novice like me its quite hard to understand, would you like to shed some light and tips on this

It suggests three different ways:

having an apache server with php (a bit too complicated for me)
or installing vlc and configuring it with tv capturing software and configuring them both together
or finally installing some software that should doit all if you know the right ports etc

to be honest, I just bought a slingbox pro, its fantastic, gives lots more options and controls the box with an onscreen remote and also optimises the stream. About ?100 from ebay, ive got a couple of other divces connected also. makes work go quicker...

Argggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! This is doing my head in! I know this is an old post but I've just recently been trying to access my dreambox using dyndns and trying to access it through the host i setup. i created and password to keep it secure, but when logging in it keeps giving me access to my router instead of the dreambox, port forwarding all sorted and stuff but keep getting the router!
