    DM600 HDD problems on a DM600

    Hello,

I've got a DM 600 cable in which I've installed a Samsung HM160HC (160Gb) as hard drive. I've installed it without any problems.

However, when I wanted to format it, using the Dreambox, I had a pop-up message saying:

<<Please wait, formating hard drive. This process can take several minutes>>

I've let it ran for 6+ hours before stoping it. It can't seems to format the HDD at all... I've repeated the process 3 times with no better luck, even with unplug - replug the HDD.

I've red in the DB manual that the HDD has to be set up as cable select... but I've seen on the forum here that the HDD must be in master...

So far it was in master... and when I've added the jumper to put it in cable select, the DB still says it's in master. Master is good?

    Additional info:

    -The dreambox recognize the HDD
-The HDD turns so it has some power

Thanks a lot for your help!!

I figured this out a while back was just reading and

to easy ive figured it out thanks all you folks its to easy when you finaly get it.

anyway in point form here I go rookie at it as I am.

    A) IDE/ATI 2.5 internall HD (mine is was 160 samsung)
    B) Used the Pli dm600 current flash on box
    C) once you get past all the rolling and sat config stuff
    D) Install your HD do not use cable config per DM book
    E) leave master, cable, slave jumper off of Hd it wants to be master.
    F) plug you IDE/ATI cable into your HD 1 is with the red strip goes in directly to the right of the 4 pins used for selecting master, cable, slave last pin is 43.
    H) Go to system settings chose harddisk setup and ok
    I) Should come up with your HD eg. Samsung **** master 160gig and ok
    J) here is where we all fall on our face because its a big secret ok on general settings and it will come up with a time box noted as 2 that is like in 2 minutes you need to change it to 30 then cursure over and change format speed to 160 save or back out
    K) now format Hd and say yes it will do its thing to easy.

note: I finaly figured it out when I sat close to the box and it would time out at exactly 2 minutes

I found some other anomalies with this box while configing but thats for another time.

Its never a bad thing to have a little help.
