    DM500 Having 2 dreambox-machines

Just a quick question, can you have 2 dreambox machines connected to one router? or will they cancel out each other?

Yes, this is not normally a problem.
The only time you may hit a problem is if you have the set the Dreamboxes to use a fixed IP address and you've set the same IP address in both. Otherwise, it's just like having two computers connected to a router.

It doesn't seem like the DM500 is getting any form of internet untill I borrow the ethernet cable from the DM600.. I've been trying to solve the problem 2 days now and I still can't figure it out, how can I see what mac adress it has and what possible solution is there to reset them?

Although a cloned MAC address is a possibility, it's a rare one and if I were you, I would look at other areas first.

To get Internet on both Dreamboxes, both of them have to be connected by Ethernet cables to your router. Is this is how you have it set-up? If so, and if only one cable works, then it seems to suggest that the other cable is faulty.

I checked the cable and it seems to be working. Also I took the AC adapter from the DM600 and used it with the DM500 and it's working without any problems.

So should I get a new ac adapter?

Update: The ac adapter from the DM500c works with the DM600c even though it's weaker. The picture hangs itself from time to time, is this because of the weaker adapter?

                I don't know if the adaptor is good or bad but I suggest that you try the following;
                1. Attach DM500 AC adaptor to DM500. Attach Ethernet cable no.1 to DM500 and plug into Ethernet port no.1 on your router. Check that Internet is working on the DM500.
                2. Disconnect Ethernet cable no.1 from router. Attach DM600 AC adaptor to DM600. Attach Ethernet cable no.2 to DM600 and plug into Ethernet port no.2 on your router. Check that Internet is working on the DM600.
                3. If all is well so far, plug Ethernet cable no.1 back into Ethernet port no.1 on your router. Check that Internet is working on both the DM500 and the DM600.

If it fails in step3, you either have a problem with cloned MAC addresses or a problem with your router.

Enable DHCP on each dreambox, save settings and reboot each box using the reboot option in the shutdown menu. Have both boxes connected to the router when you reboot. When both boot up, check their ip addresses, they should be different, well the last range should be different, probably by 1 number.

As the boss says the ip address should be diffrent for both boxes ie :

                    box 1 : 192.168.0.12

                    box 2 : 192.168.0.13

                    Good luck.

Are you using some sort of card sharing system? The reason I say this is because you don't need an Internet connection to get a picture except when using C/S. If you are, then as far as I know, you will need one C/S subscription for each Dreambox, i.e. you cannot share one subscription between two Dreamboxes.

Discussions about card sharing are banned on this forum and so I'll not speak about it any further.

Hey! I'm not using any c/s.. the problem was a bad splitter from the wall contact, I got a new one and it's working great.

You started this thread with a problem about the Internet connection for the two Dreamboxes? When you started talking about picture quality, I thought that we were still on the same problem. How was I to know that you'd changed topic?
I see that you've edited yesterday evening's post so that my response looks stupid. Very smart arse of you!

I had one dreambox 500s with all the channels working great. bought another one. did a backup of the image on the first box and restored it in the new box. now only one box works at a time. if i unplug one, the other one will work. tried them in even different addresses (few miles away) still only one works. there isn't any card in the box, so i dont know whether it is card sharing or no. can anyone please help with the settings so the both the boxes work at the same time. (free channels work at the same time on both boxes, its the encrypted channels that works only in one)
