It comes with a SATA interface so you can either add an internal sata hdd and record to that or connect an external hdd.

There are a few images for this receiver now and each release is getting better. There were issues with it freezing but there's a newer bootloader out to cure this.

    3) Will it be able to recieve sky or virginmedia with the right software
Cable is hacked, sky is not.

Out of interest does anyone have proper news on the future of HD content with Virgin. I just don't understand the purpose of the DM800 at the moment. I trust it is possible to stream HD content to it, but am I missing something else here?

Funny you should ask that question. I have just been on the home to them to ask what WM are going to do about getting more HD channels as when my box was installed the engineer said that 40ish channels were coming this year but as we can all see nothing new so far. The VM response was that they are planning to to have more HD channels but have no imformation on how many, which ones and when they will be available.

Pretty crap answer really, but what would you expect. They stated that they will tell us all when they will be doing this, how they will tell us they also did not mention.

Is it possible to have satellite and cable tuners in one box? Would the firmware handle both? Lastly would a sky or freesat card work? I currently have a dbox2 but I guess I'm looking for a uber solution for my many needs

the dm800 has only one tuner you can get it with a cable or sat tuner
a sky card with subscription will work with the sat tuner
the dm8000 is a hd or the dm7025 via scart or scart to component adapter will work on first boot of most images for this box
                both these have twin tuner
                dm800-s=1.1 m triax motorised dish=titanium twin lnb

DIGITAL KAOS BEST SITE ON THE NET

please use the thanks button if someone has helped

Hi I am a newbie, and seem to be the proud owner of a DM800 although not working to its full potential. When i installed the flash software it did nout use dream up. The dreambox got the data from the web. down loaded a file named release 800 *.INF file. Where * = the date. I do not know if this will help but i waisted hours trying to install dream up 2.
And did not reliase that the *.INF file is the equivalent. I think Devilfish pointed this out in one of his postings. Looks nice sitting under telly but need codes etc.

if you want sat as well than you better off with the dm7025 it can hadle 2 tuners ie cable and sat and beleive me you can do loads with .

i have one and been very happy with it.

Thanks westkill and icaicm. I did look briefly at the 7025 but will read up more now since it is a dual tuner solution I require. The lure of HD was my main reason for the dm800.

Wow the ipbox 9000 seems to be exactly what I'm looking for... but damn its expensive! I have done a search on these forums and there is only one topic on it so far (luckily its a tutorial on how to install images).

I have found Cuberevo boxes (which have essentially the same features) are ?50-100 cheaper.

I guess I'm worried because I've only dealt with dbox's and some dreambox 500c's so this would be a costly paperweight if I can't get it to work. Messing about is always fun though

edit: DUHHH there is an ipbox forum! I was doing a search for thread titles with "ipbox" in them hehe.

Just got myself a DM800c too, just wondering if the pli-enigma2-jade3-dm800-20090719-6555 image need keys etc inserting into it like the DM500? if so will the same keys from the 500c work? this is for Virgin btw.

Which is the most stable image so far? im not too bothered about gadgety functions, main concern is image quality and stability!

                              Thanks guys.
