dream box has stopped working

Yesterday all was well channels working kids happy, wife watching big brother.

Today nothing. no activity with remote and nothing on screen. just blank.

Reflashed with image file pluged it all in , for about 30 sec bbc one was working and sound yea it must be ok. No suddenly a funny noise and then black nothing . when it was working for those 30 seconds there was no response from the remote to test other channels.

i have checked the led on the remote is transiting using camera phone.

So a 2 part question , anyone know what is happing with v/m or my dreambox , and second how is it affecting the remote ???

Mind you it did freeze twice today(wednesday day), which is weird as it doesn't happen much.. but I just restarted evocam and came right back on

The only thing I can assume is that your image has just ~~~~ed up, happens sometimes... I only say that because thats one thing that can stop your remote from doing anything(maybe your reflash was a bit corrupted too)

The only thing I can suggest is to flash it with the erase img(look in the download section) to blank the flash chip of all data, and then try your backup image again

If that fails try a different image like pli to see if it works.... if not then it maybe your box has gone(something inside it)... what was the funny noise you say you heard?

Ant sure how to discribe the noise it was sort of a scramble noise, it was very short.

I have downloaded the erase img and copied it over .
when i tried to load the back up it came up error upload aborted.
when i tried to upload the dk1.1 img it said error upload aborted
When i try and ping the bo after a failed uploar it says ping not ok.
I of course restart dreamup up each time , finaly got the backup img to copy. taken its time to copy will let you know how i get on. if i ant working any chance of a email with the img undammaged?? incase it is currupt

ok after 4 attempts to reflash the backup lmg it uploaded ok, hooked it up and tested it, looked good 3 mins later , still working left the room and sure enough it went off. unpluged the powerlead and started it up againa d restarted the enig.
still working ok now but alot of messing to get it back working , again thanks for you help

OK glad you're making progress.. could be worse atleast your box is still working hardware wise...(that flashing with dreamup a load of times before it takes is a common prob)

It must have been the backup I flashed it with went apeshit(can happen sometimes, being a backup of another box)..

if you can still use your remote when you say it goes off, then try to hold info button for 3secs and restart evocam(without switching off or restarting box).. I had to do that yesterday for the first time in about a year(was watching waynes world then froze twice and all chnls blank,. Restarted cam, all good)... funnily enough the same thing has obviously happened to you too and that may have been what set your image off

today it went of again

Funny thing is i restarted the evocamd this morning before work and when i got home it had gone again. i have pulled the power out and waitied 30 secs plugeed it back in to restart the evocamd again but it is freezing at the digital kaos screnn with the starting evocamd window. i wiull pm you my email address , any chance of a copy of the image again in electronic form to rule out a curruption in my backup?

dont think there's anything wrong with ur image. more likely its key problem imho. my box blackout in the aftn, though service provider did something. checked and found that key not changed.

i changed the image as per email but no different, box worked for 20 - 40 mins and then stopped. (29/08/2010) tried at 12 o clock. right in the middle of scooby doo the movie as well

The best thing to do mate is to flash the fresh dk image from the download section on here and don't put anything else on it like keys/roms... then watch a freeview channel and see if it goes off

If it goes off then something is wrong with your box I'd say, if it stays on then atleast we know its the backup images that are failing... and then you can try ftp'ing the keys/roms in and see what happens

ok i managed to flash erase with teh dream up software , however i can not upload any new image , erase, dk1.1 or backup always comes up with error

Dreamup can connect to box but fails durning upload .

just read somewhere to do the dreamup flash erase twice, i came up with

Got the dreamup software to erase flash twice now. after the first pass works, shut down the dreamup up software and re do it all over again. how ever when i try and load the erase img this happens

I don't have a clue about error codes. But you say you went flash erase once and worked then second time gave error.. leave the flash erase button alone and press flash image.. try press "no" to flash erase when flashing Dk1.1 image.. see if that takes

Tried that, failed on the erase.img upload. seams like i cant upload anything ? any thoughts? did you get yours going again?

Something has happened to yours, Mine's still going sweet and I've done lots of mates boxes with that backup image and haven't heard of anyones going funny, they usually phone me straight away if something goes off... and yes throw it in to me and I'll have a bash at it
