    DM500 FTP failing on 500S

I am attempting to send a file 'CCCam.cfg' to /etc on my Dreambox 500S.

I have switched off the Firewall, used FileZilla connected to dreambox 192.168.1.250 on port 21 using root {dreambox}.

I can navigate the sub-directories on the Dreambox 500s absolutely fine through FileZilla.

However, I am getting the following error in FileZilla when I attempt to upload this file.

    Status: Starting upload of C:\TEMP\CCcam.cfg
    Command: PASV
Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,250,250,171)
    Command: STOR CCcam.cfg
Response: 553 Could not create file.
    Error: Critical file transfer error

I've made sure that the /etc has read-write-execute permissions for the incoming file. But still no luck.

Any ideas - I'm really stummped!?!

    Regards, BB.

    Try Flash FXP mate .
If you get the same outcome, reflash
    And ftp the files then
    Backup your channel lists first............Paul

          Got the FTP working.

It was attempting to put the file in /var, but when I switched to /var/etc - where I should have been putting the file - the FTP worked.

The permissions on /var and /var/etc are the same so I've no idea why the FTP failed then with just /var.

Nevertheless, cheers. FTP'ed all the files I now need. Also bouquets working following successful FTP too.

Now for a bit more Forum Reading!

          Regards, BB

I think on a 500 /etc/ is read only. You probably need to put it in /var/etc/

The OP said he was trying to FTP a file to /etc - (once you've analysed his white text on white background, LOL)- which on a dm500 is in the R/O squashfs mtd5 partition.

You can only transfer files via FTP to the JFFS2 mtd1 partition, which is /var

/var/etc/CCcam.cfg will work fine and dandy...

              Cheers- AL
