    DM600 prob

OK bear with me on this one, I have a mate who has a DM600, we have installed the pli jade image, installed all the keys and roms, prob is getting the evocam to work, I'm not near him, so this is all been done over the phone, evocam is on the box but as I don't have a 600 or seen the pli jade image I don't know how to get the softcam from "none" to "evocam 2.12". I managed to get him to ftp the b2z file into /var/tmp and he said it unpacked it'self. Any help on getting the cam up and running would be appreciated. He has completed a bruteforce UK scan get 700+ services, only free is unchecked, but only gets freeview, i am assuming this is due to the evocam not running or being fully installed even tho it's on the box.

Blue button, software management, downloads, softcams, scroll down to older sofcams, select evocam.

when he downloads it, onto a channel Sly 1 and setup, softcam setup and switch evocam on.

    hope this helps m8.

    cheers

He's not in a position to connect to the internet via the box to download the cam, the cam was manually added via ftp but it doesn't show in the manual install menu. Does it wasnt to go in /var/tmp or just /tmp???

If the Evocamd has installed correctly than he should be able to select with the remote by pressing Blue button > Softcam setup > Evocamd. If he does not see the evocamd listed than it has not installed on his box. Assuming that it is listed and he selects as the default cam than you also need to make sure that you have copied the var/keys and var/scce files from the filehost link shown in of the posts on the forum. These are key files needed to decrypt the channels. If he manages to load these files than all he needs to do is turn to S*y SP1 until the channel clears.

God this is like watching my kids go through route canal surgery without an anesthetic, and the conversation with him is like a modern day monty python sketch, he put the evocam tar.gz in /tmp, but he's saying it's still not showing up in the manual install menu, can't understand why it's not. Calling it a night for now, will continue this fiasco tomorrow. Thanks for the help tho guys.

The DM600 may not recognise .b2z extension you probably need .gz file extension.

OK, were getting further each time, the evocam was there in the manual install menu, he said it seemed to install, but now in the softcam box it's still saying "none" and not giving him the option to select anything else.

try this cam it should work

                    RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

place in temp then you need to telnet this

                    ipkg install /tmp/evocamd_2.12_mispel.ipk

its the only way i got the info off pli's website make sure you correctly type or it wont work

i found gemini or LT much more easier for manual install you just place in temp and install add on with blue button

if the cam does not work go to pli's own website and download thier cams for the 600 it must be an ipk cam others will not work

Did you install the key files etc into var/keys and var/scce? I always found Evocamd 2.12 or Evocamd 2.13 was quicker at clearing.

OK, I managed to remote admin and have a look in DCC, I don't know if this is correct, as I have never seen the pli jade image before, but there isn't a var/scce folder, if you go into /var there is an icon of a finger pointing that goes to /etc/tuxblahblah/scce, is that right or should there be an actual scce folder?? As for the evocam the only one i can find that is actually tar.gz is that 2.14, cannot find a 2.12.tar.gz tried converting a zip one but the box seems to want to read it as tar.b2z all the time, but at least there is a cam installed.

Its symbolic link just copy the files to var/keys and etc/scce.
