Virgin Media have applied a code update which has crippled cable boxes across the country which were used for receiving cable TV illegally.

Cable boxes affected include the Eurovox, Nokia Dbox, Starview and Kryptview.

Users receiving cable TV illegally receive the error message ?Please wait?code been updated? and no channels can be accessed.

According to industry analyst Ian Waller, ?The change is causing false keys to be recorded on a ROM7 update, usually only 1 or 2 characters are wrong, this has been happening on ROM10 and ROM11 updates for the last year. A genuine card can handle the change, an emulator can not.?

Virgin Media applied a similar change around a year ago, and it took almost a week for firmware updates for chipped boxes to keep pace.

However, from reports coming in the changes by virgin may not be a simple one off event, but instead being applied on a daily basis.

Although updates are available on the internet which try to keep track of the changes, if the code changes are being implemented on a daily basis this could make it very difficult for firmware updates to keep track.

The result would be a victory for Virgin in their battle against cable piracy, and an end to the widespread use of cable boxes for receiving free cable TV.

UPDATE: Reports in the Techwatch forums suggest another code update began at 3:30pm today. It looks like Virgin have indeed started to apply daily code changes.

As the Digivox XL is not mentioned, do we escape the wrath of Virgin? My digivox has just gone kaput and i thought about flashing it before i read this thread.

virgin has to be careful with this, im a full package holder (yes i pay though the nose for the lot), with 2 legit boxes, we also have 2 dreamboxes for my bed room and the eldest daughters room - we also have 1 legit box in the twins room and v+ in the living room. virgin wouldnt install anymore boxes on our line as we also have 20mb broadband (they said they could put another cable in if one was free in the area, but there wasnt) - they said the cable wont support anymore (i suppose i prooved them wrong here).
But if they keep peeing about with these key rolls they will just alienate me and i will quit the lot. As far as im concerned all im doing is extending my already payed for channels into another room as virgin wouldnt do it.

can anybody help a "thicko" like me i have reset my eurovox max (red) to factory settings and now the box will do nothing, why did i do this? i'm a "thicko"

I am trying to obtain the RAR file to check for latest keys. I do not have programme to unzip RAR files. Tried to load one from internet which brougth baack trojon horse. Luckily my antivirus programme blocked it.
Please could anyone help. I am very new to this sort of things

all you guys need is keymaster, devilfish has already posted this programe so download it and open it and enter the code in keylist with ftp edit the one you already got in keylist with the new codes and then unplug yur box and go to sky sports 1 and restart cam thats all done.

just a quick ques im new to all this but if u have an origonal cable box surley if some1 knows how to acsses hidden menu we could get code from that then enter the keys manualy do u think this would work
