    Connection can be establish from laptop to the dreambox vs a cross/straight cable if you did everything right.

    1st, make sure the network activity led light is blinking, this tell you that the connection is established.

    2nd, manually set an IP address at the laptop. Example;
    IP = 192.168.1.20
    Subnet = 255.255.255.0

    3rd, manually set an IP address at the dreambox. Example;
    IP = 192.168.1.21 (192.168.1.xxx cannot be change)
    Subnet = 255.255.255.0 (must be the same with the laptop)

    Launch the DreamBoxEdit, click on 'Options' > 'Profiles', create a new profile then enter the IP address 192.168.1.21 which you have set at the Dreamdox and 'Save'. For retrieving from Dremabox select 'FTP', to open your services and bouquets from your local select 'Open'.

    Theatrically is will work if all above are configured correctly. In some circumstances it may failed. The below mentioned are only some of the simple problem only. No connection between Laptop to Dreambox due to ethernet cable faulty or Dreambox ethernet faulty. Dreambox cannot manually input an IP. You may need a DHCP server or configure Internet Sharing at the wireless network connection in your laptop.
