dream 500c, what freeview channels ?

even though nagra 3 has kicked in , is there any way to get the 500c to receive the free channels that are or used to be available on virgin.

i heard from somewhere that with the correct software./firmware you can get all freeview channels and lots more, but i dont know if its just a rumour.

same question with the likes of a virgin v+ box, what would it be able to receive ?

    fta chans.via dm500c

I have been told that the only chans available via a dm500c are
    bbc1/2/3/parliament
    bbc news
    cbbc
    cbeebies
    cnbc
    channel 4/4+1
etvs10-18= bbc commonwealth games at the moment
    channel 5
    itv1
    itv2+1
    itv3+1
    itv4+1
    s4c
    s4c2...info page

Which is all that is left on my 3 dm500c units......s/wales......virmin also.....
It is a shame that the units cannot receive more fta chans as now they are pretty useless....i've got more chans on my freeview t.v in the bedroom via aerial..........

yea, i wish i could remember where i read something about theres a way to get all the free channels, but i bet those meanies virgin have made some of what we would call the free ones , they'll have made them nagra 3, its a cert init ? i mean like what you would get on a freeview box, virgins type of equivlant of that, cause i think even with sky if you have a sky box and no subscription you still get a load of the free channels.

I think eventually the itv 2/3/4 chnls will go N3 because under stream info they are under both N1/N3 encryption and will eventually go N3, unlike the others that have no encryption.. surprised to see the RTE chnls not going under their encryption but yet the ones that can be got on a standard freeview box are being locked down.. E4/film4/itv's

I think you'll need to get a real VM box with a new card to use as freeview and you will probably get all them freeview ones and some others threw in by Virgin

Has to be said.. the best freeview box is a Sky box... if you're willing to flick about there are shitloads of pretty good freeview chnls in there
