Alternative uses for DM500c?

I was just wondering if there are any alterntive uses for a DM500c or other now useless cable box? Anyway to make a simple NAS Server or Media Server out of it?

i think you could use them as servers for sat tv cards, but they could not tune to sat signals due to them having cable tuners

can be if u can get them but involves desoldering the C card and soldering the S card
