DM500c Not Networking

Hi peeps ive got a DM500c that im trying to connect with my via crossover cable I know the cable is fine as its been tested with other things, I also made sure that in dreambox setting under advanced coms that the network is enabled but when the networking cable is plugged in my pc does not pick up that a cable has been plugged in as in the little computer in the system tray stays with a cross thought it any help or ideas would be great as its driving me nuts.

Turn, DHCP off, so that the IP address to say 192.168.1.24 then set your PC to 192.168.1.20 or something different to 24. make sure the gateways are the same. Then you should be able to ping each other.

disable ur wireless and right click on ur local go to properties then tcp/ip properties mark use following IP address and type in ip one less than ur box ip,the subnet stays the same 255.255.255.0 then click ok and close. Now connect ur box to ur pc and power it on,wait untill it will stop connecting and flash ur box the pc sign in the bottom right corner might have the red cross over it like it is not connected its ok mine always has a cross over and flashes no problem anyway
