vermin media knocking on the door

I had a interesting conversation with a lad who i used to play footie with today when he phoned up for a fix for his box. vermin phoned up asking a m8 of his(dunno what box he had and where he got it from) what sort of stuff he viewed on his tv, said he had a freeview box and didnt want anything else except the phone/broadband he has with them. next day they called at his house asking the same sort of questions and could they come in his house. he said no and if they wanted to come in his house they would have to get a search warrant. next day they come with a warrant but he obviously disconnected everything and all was good.
this is the 1st time i have heard of a warrant being issued, so if they come knocking on the door i guess its best to say its not convienient today could you please make an appointment for another day. dont look so guilty that way i guess

I dunno, I do not want to come across any bit cynical but ...these stories are always tend to start with a guy who knew a guy. I believe there is very little first hand 'they called to my door' stories. Being the eternal optimist I would put this one down to a urban myth.

hmmmmmmm as an ex virgin (telewest) employee, i can tell you now this is bo***s....first of all why would they phone his mate? and secondly, unless they had proof he commited an offence, the police wouldnt entertain it. I was personally at a house with one of my ex managers, where there was a "chipped box", my manager demanded to enter the house and was told to P**s off, nothing he could do but to hand it over to v/m's fraud squad...yes they have their own way, they don't need police.....storys always fly around LOL

yes i have read lots of these threads too, like that on chongsparks about the VM crackdown in sheffield. this is how far how the chain goes, i know the guy well, not only him but his relations too, the guy who got the warrant(whom i do not know) is a guy he works with and lives within a mile of both of us. If i actually thought just 1/2% he was talkin shite i wouldnt have posted but i believe what he has told me. take from this whatever you want

if u actually read the post there are 3 points of contact
                    1 a phone call
2 a visit where entrance is declined
3 a further visit where a warrant is shown

as to why phone his m8, i can only assume 1 of 2 things
                    1 hes been grassed up
2 after the crack down on ebay etc, his name has been given off his supplier

I hate to bust your bubbles guys but a few years ago when we all had analogue boxes I was grassed up by someone for having a chipped box. The police came to my door with a warrant and had a quick look around, luckily I had a sub and told them the box in my house they found was subbed. They took my word for it and left and never noticed the two boxes I had stashed in the hall cupboard which were chipped.

TBH they weren't intrested all that much as I told them the guy that had grassed me up had been in a van accident with me and I had been a witness against him so he was just grassing me up as some sort of revenge and had made the story up.

LOL - I soon got rid of those boxes though.
                            Suck my plums
