dont press it, once pressed it wipes the image, it does not give you an option to remove the image like a popup r anythin it just happens if u know what i mean, i learnt the hard way ....

I take it that's for emergencies only then. You hear a knock at the door see a Vermin man and press PANIC!!

      Great idea.

I'm still to fix my box just yet. Watching the feedback to make sure the fix is stable as I have to borrow a m8's laptop in order to do it. Not got the RS232 connection on my PC. Thought I had a usb to RS232 lead but can't find it. How reliable are they anyway compared to a null modem cable?

You can disable the Panic Button via the OSD.

That's why I asked mate. I have read of some people not getting on with them at all and ending up having issues flashing etc. I'll get a new one if I can't find mine and take a chance.

What about any adapters for the pc so I could use a null modem cable, are there any I could get?

Is it possible to put the panic files in any image? For example another dreambox or dbox2?
                  Does anyone have the files?

Re: the null modem cable question - even if it wipes roms and keys you still have a bootable image so can flash via lan and no real need for null modem cable.

AFAIK it's only a plugin, Perhaps Glen can elaborate...
