DM500 SPOONFED NEWBIES GUIDE

I have been following the guide for the DM500 box for Cable and i get to this point and can get no further.

"In the right hand pane click on the var_init folder.
The right hand pane will change to this:"

When i try to write to this folder via FTP using various different programs flashfxp and fizzazilla i get access is denied error likes its read only.

I have tried putting the keys in the other folder
Var/KEYs
VAR/SCCE

However of course no channels will work.

I have replaced the the new nagra files like i did on my DM600PVR which is all working.

Am i doing anything wrong, how can i set permissions so i can write to these folders.

you should be ftp'ing to the keys and scce folder within var rather than var_init, so what youve done is correct

So silly justy seen this

Copy contents of Keys folder to /var/keys
Copy contents of Scce folder to /var/scce
Go to Sky Sports 1
Hold INFO for more than 3 secs to bring up EMU manager, press OK.

@gums...I know its very frustrating m8, but some people have never used the internet never mind navigate around a forum. It can be very intimidating to some.

fair enough i suppose, and im happy to help all that have problems that ive managed to solve, its just when i joined i was an absolute beginner but just took 30mins to have a poke about and read some threads and it all becomes much clearer, guess im just the type of person that gets more satisfaction in managing to solve something myself instead of having it all spoonfed

i.m a newbie,i,m old and i,m lost.
i got my new 500s from china on saturday and i set it up and downloaded chan from h/bird and astra, my laptop conects to dreambox perfect . now i,m lost "what is my next step i need to do to open chan up "? i would be very grateful if somene could help please. iv,e never had sat before only normal tele. and please could you please explain in laymans terms as i dont understand the language as some people use on here .i.e var and ccam i hope someone can help thankyou.

If you have got a sat than there is no pint looking for answeres in the cable section you need to go over to the satellite section.
