Image flashing stepping method help

Ive a 500c and thought its no better time to do my first flash than now with everything being down and all

Im gonna flash to the DK1.1 image but.. if I remember rightly from the huge number of threads Ive been through over the past few days someone mentioned you cant just jump from one image to another like without it being by the same group/revision or something (much like the PSP, it cant be flashed without leapfroging through FWs until you reach the desired firmwire)

So is it the same for the dreambox... I think Im using an engina image(I dont know exactly how to tell what it is actually is *noob*... but I remember seeing something like 07 from the software info

Im pretty confident in flashing and all but just need to know do I need to jump around other firmwires before flashing the DK1.1 image or can you just flash whatever the hell you want as long as its for your particular box

look at the image tags....if it says 500c image then get the newest revision (version) and flash erase,,,,,jobs a good un...most image makers will state the model.

takes around 12mins....let it completly finish and dont run any software whilst flashing....if your pc crashes because you were trying to do something else then the image will not be properly flashed..(play it safe and wait)

once done go and read about the next steps....viewing.

You can flash whatever image you like mate although the newer the version the image would normally be the one to use. Just avoid the Gemini images 4.31 and above if you have a clone otherwise you will be reading about how to jtag.

The DK image IMO is a good one. Just read the instructions as provide by Devilfish. They come as FTA images. If you have a working image just now take a copy of the contents of your keys and scce folder and transfer these over via FTP once you have flashed. You are familiar with flashing so use Telnet - 3 minutes and your done.
