    DM500 Direct Recording 500C

    Hi,

I have followed the sticky about recording directly recording to a p.c and im cant get it to work, this is what i have done, would someone please tell me where i am going wrong.

I am trying to set it up using the Enigma web interface.

I can also FTP to and from the Dreambox so theres not a problem communicating with the box.

In the description i have recordings, as i have a shared folder called recordings in My Documents.
Filesystem type is set to 1 CIFS
    Automount is not ticked.

In the Client Directory i have put the location of the recordings folder(C:\Documents and settings\archie\My Documents\recordings) the last 4 letters of recordings do not fit. Should i have /hdd/movie in the client directory?

I have bla in the Server Directory.

The I.P is the IP i use to FTP to my dreambox, i have googled Whats my IP and it came back with a different IP, so do i use the FTP IP or the IP of my laptop?

Now for the passwords. Do i use root and dreambox or do i use the use the name i have on my pc that i login with which is archie, and i have a password for the pc as well when i boot into XP, do i use this username and password.
The actual name of my laptop is the same as my username.

P.S i FTP wirelessly, can the recording to the Laptop be done wirelessly or do i have to do it by connecting an ethernet cable

    Hope some one can help.

When you're entering in the shared folder path, don't include the "C:/" section, just the folder path. It's probably best to make a folder on your c: drive, it's simpler. But try your path first without the c:/

The client directory should be "/hdd/movie"

The server directory should be "Documents and settings\archie\My Documents\recordings"

Like I said, if that doesn't fit into the space, create a folder on the c: drive, i.e. c:\recordings, but again don't include the c:\ in the mount settings.

The ip address is the ip address of your PC, not your dreambox.

The username and password are the username and password for your PC, not the dreambox. If your PC boots up to the desktop, i.e. no password, then leave the password section blank.

All fields are case sensitive so if you have a capital letter in your account, make sure you include it in the mount settings, same with folder paths.

    Recording wirelessly is fine.

      Thanks for the reply Devilfish,

I have done exactly what you have explained but im still getting an "X" next to the mount instead of the Green tick.

      Any ideas please..
